Summer 2025

Brên. Calon. Fi.
Theatr Cymru
24|6|2025
7:30pm

Meet Fi: a girl in a North Wales village with spiky hair and a BMX, fancying girls but pretending to be straight; falling for a woman on the rugby team without telling anyone that she’s also fallen into her bed; going to London to be a lesbian in a lesbian world loving every lesbian second… until she’s not.

As Fi takes us on a journey through her love life – the secret crushes, the awkward sex and the messy heartbreak – she explores the complexities of being true to yourself while growing up as a tomboy in the nineties.

Following an incredible response to the premiere performances at the Rhondda Cynon Taf National Eisteddfod 2024, Bethan Marlow's Brên. Calon. Fi will go on tour as part of this year's Pride Month celebrations in June. The first of its kind, this is a hilarious and heart-wrenching monologue about lesbian love and desire, directed by Rhiannon Mair and starring Lowri Morgan.

Originally developed with support from the National Eisteddfod of Wales and performed at Pontypridd 2024.

The who:
The joyful ‘Saunders Stage Productions’ marks the debut of a new family-led company based in the heart of West Wales—a first of its kind in the region. At it’s heart is Lucy Evans, the driving force behind the vision, whose passion and creativity as a trained performer has brought the team together. She’s honoured to be led by her (extended) family: mother and daughter duo Sally and Charlotte Saunders—highly experienced and beyond talented choreographers and performers, and a gifted musical director in Sally, who churns out talent more frequently than Mary Berry says ‘Soggy Bottom’! Together, this trio of professionally trained women combines talent, heart, and a shared love of theatre to create vibrant, high-quality productions.
